“It’s great to have a safe-zone with likeminded, caring people. Sharing anecdotes and personal experiences of living with diabetes has been invaluable to me and I feel like I have made friends.”

“I love this group, I feel like I have more support and advice from people that completely understand what I’m going through and feeling. But most of all I feel included and accepted for being me.’’

“This group is so encouraging, from the sharing of tips of frustrations with T1D. It is so good to know there are people out there who get it when you feel like giving up and your sugars are ‘rollercoastering’, or you just want to celebrate that rare unicorn moment.”

‘’This group gives me hope, support and sanity. I hate this disease, it takes me to the depths. Its lovely to have some mates on my side.’’

“After 33 years of living with diabetes in my own, sometimes lonely bubble, I have finally found a circle of people who are in exactly my position.”

“The monthly sessions are amazing and having a ‘topic’ each month planned in advance focuses the mind on the task in hand."

“I cannot now imagine or want a life without this support group and would strongly encourage rolling this out to other trusts so that others can share in this extremely positive experience”.

“This group has been invaluable for the little hints and tips, and giving me confidence to make changes myself.”

“Thank you to James and to all the members of this support group. For creating a safe and welcoming environment, and to be able to meet other type 1 diabetic people, of different ages and backgrounds.

Living with diabetes can feel all consuming. But having a supportive group who understand the intricacies of life with this chronic disease, whilst offering support and seasoned advice, is invaluable.”

I've found some people living quite local to myself, I'm just getting to know them.

Quite a diverse group, different lives, interests, backgrounds.

Many wouldn't naturally meet but for one common goal.

All determined to be the best version of themselves while controling type 1 diabetes with an Omnipod insulin pump.

So many decades of experience between us, if I'm unsure about something, or having a hard time, someone has been through it already and willing to help.”

Feedback from a Podder following a meet-up:

It was lovely to see everyone tonight.  What I'm taking from it is always "you're not alone" and that is so important.

Thank you for all your invaluable contributions.
